CORPTAX is hiring new junior researchers (PhD students)

CORPTAX is hiring up to three new full-time junior researchers starting from July 2022 for 3 years, who would also complete their PhD studies in economics at Charles University during that period.

We are looking for a talented graduate of a master’s programme in economics (or related fields) to join our team as a junior researcher and a PhD candidate in economics. We expect the candidates to be interested in learning new research skills and in CORPTAX research questions: how much multinationals pay in taxes, where and why. She or he should also be able to work together with other CORPTAX researchers on empirical economics papers to be presented at international academic conferences and published in leading academic journals in the forthcoming years.

We offer a competitive salary, which is composed of a full-time employment contract for the research project (net monthly salary of around 25,000 CZK or 1040 EUR; gross 30,000 CZK) plus a stipend offered by the PhD programme (net monthly of 10,500 CZK or around 440 EUR). Moreover, there are additional bonuses and grant opportunities available within the PhD programme.

CORPTAX is a five-year research project focused on the taxation of multinational corporations. We aim to establish how much multinationals pay in taxes, where and why. CORPTAX is based at the Institute of Economic Studies, Faculty of Social Sciences, Charles University, Prague, which is the leading economics department offering both undergraduate and graduate degrees in Czechia. It is located in the centre of the beautiful city of Prague and provides a stimulating environment for excellent academic research. We encourage the candidate to relocate to Prague.

Candidates can apply by filling the form below.

We accept applications on a rolling basis and so please do get in touch with us. At the same time, the deadline for applications to the PhD programme is only once a year, April 30. For a timely beginning of the PhD studies associated with the junior researcher position, the selection process for the junior researcher position would ideally finish by the end of March so that the selected candidates can prepare and submit their PhD applications during April. The CORPTAX job offer will be conditioned on being accepted by the PhD programme. We expect the candidate to start working on CORPTAX no later than by July 1, although the exact timing is up for discussion.

Timeline (every year)

March 31: New junior researchers selected
April 30: Deadline for applications to the PhD programme
